Declaración del Partido Por la Democracia (PPD) en el marco de la visita de Patricio Aylwin a Estados Unidos, en la que se enfatiza la connotación histórica del viaje, toda vez que se trata de la primera visita oficial de un Presidente chileno a Estados Unidos en 30 años. El PPD estima que se hace necesario el anuncio formal por parte de la República norteamericana del inicio de las negociaciones para un acuerdo de libre comercio y el impulso de la "Iniciativa de las Américas", anunciada por George Bush en 1992, como forma de integración económica, social y política de las Américas
