Enfoque: El lunes se inició formalmente el "año APEC", que culminará con la reunión de jefes de Estado y de Gobierno, programadas para los días 20 y 21 de noviembre en Chile. APEC representa a las principales potencias del mundo, que reúnen el 57 por ciento del Producto Interno Bruto Mundial y un mercado de 2.500 millones de personas. A partir de ahora se efectuarán más de cien jornadas de trabajo entre diversos países, el 50 por ciento de las cuales tendrán lugar fuera de Santiago.
